Amaechi adds handprints to Penn State All-Sports Museum

State College, Pa, June 24, 2002 - Former Penn State basketball great John Amaechi stamped his big hands along side the imprints of fellow great Calvin Booth's big feet last week in the basketball exhibit of the Penn State All-Sports Museum.

Amaechi, Penn State's first All-Big Ten selection and a Nittany Lion star from 1993-95, took time out from his busy schedule to visit the museum and place his hand prints on the regulation size basketball that is part of the museum's interactive exhibits. The ball is anchored to a wall were fans are encouraged to match their hand prints with Amaechi's. On the carpet just below the ball are the large footprints from the sneakers worn by Booth, a Nittany Lion standout from 1995-99.

Both Amaechi and Booth are currently playing professionally in the National Basketball Association. The 6-10 Amaechi is center with the Utah Jazz and the 6-11 Booth is a center for the Seattle Sonics.

Nearly 20,000 persons have visited the Penn State All-Sports Museum since it opened February 17, 2002. The museum is located in the southeast corner of Beaver Stadium. Normal opening hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
