UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's basketball team has accepted an invitation to compete in the seventh annual College Basketball Invitational Tournament. The Nittany Lions (15-17, 6-12 B1G) will host Hampton (18-12, 13-3 MEAC) in the first round of the CBI on at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 19 in the Bryce Jordan Center.
The PSU-Hampton winner will advance to the CBI Quarterfinal Round to play the winner of the Stony Brook vs. Siena winner next Monday, March 24.
"We are looking forward to the opportunity to play in the CBI," Patrick Chambers, Penn State head coach said. "The team is grateful for chance to continue practicing together and ultimately having a chance to compete for a championship."
The CBI consists of 16 teams. All games are hosted by participating schools. Schools must win three-consecutive games to advance to the CBI Championship Series, which is scheduled as a best-of-three series to decide the tournament champion.
Following the quarterfinals March 24, the semifinal round is scheduled for Wednesday, March 26 with The Championship Series slated to being Monday, March 31 and continue Wednesday, April 2. Should a third game be necessary, it will be played Friday, April 4.
Other participating schools include Fresno State, Hampton, Illinois State, Morehead State, Old Dominion, Oregon State, Princeton, Radford, Siena, South Dakota State, Stony Brook, Texas A&M, Tulane, UTEP and Wyoming.

Tickets for Wednesday's game go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Monday for $15 (adults) and $5 for youth. Students ticket are free by presenting PSU student ID at Gate A starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Season ticket holders are able to purchase $12 tickets; however their reserved locations are only available until 5 p.m. Monday.
