Penn State coach Patrick Chambers will donate $10 to THON 2013 for every Penn State student that attends the Nittany Lions' Thursday night clash with Iowa in the Jordan Center
UNIVERSITY PARK, PA.; FEB. 11, 2013 - With his Nittany Lions taking on Iowa Thursday night on the eve of the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON), Penn State coach Patrick Chambers has pledged to donate $10 to THON 2013 for every Penn State student that attends the 9:00 p.m. clash in the Bryce Jordan Center. The game will be televised live by ESPNU.
Penn State students are asked to present a valid Penn State student ID to pick up a pledge card on the Jordan Center concourse near Portal 31 between 8:00-9:15 p.m. Thursday night. The pledge cards will be collected from students (one per student) beginning with five minutes remaining in the second half of Thursday's game or can be turned in after the game at a collection bin at the Gate A exit of the Jordan Center.
Penn State (8-15; 0-11 Big Ten) will be looking for its first Big Ten win of the season when the Hawkeyes (15-9; 4-7 Big Ten) come to town. Iowa posted a 76-67 victory two weeks ago in Iowa City.
THON 2013 will kickoff the next day in the Bryce Jordan Center and runs February 15-17 with over 700 dancers and thousands of student volunteers taking part in the 46-hour event. The world's largest student run philanthropy, THON raised a record of more than $10.6 million last year and has raised more than $89 million since its inception in 1977 to support the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital.
