Hassell become a factor for Penn State in his junior season starting 25 games and playing in all but one while averaging 20.9 minutes per game...Athletic, mobile and strong (he benches over 330 pounds), he has the tools to be a major impact player and showed flashes of that last season posting his first 20-point game and surpassing his previous season best totals just seven games into the season...He will look to build on that success in his senior campaign and become a more consistent presence in the post for the Nittany Lions.

2006-07 SEASON • JUNIOR In a career best year, Hassell started 25 games and surpassed his previous season-best point and rebound totals seven games into this season...Grew two inches from 6-9 to 6-11 prior to the start of the season...Scored in double-digits in five games and surpassed or equaled a career high point total five times on the season...Led the team shooting 60.3 percent (70-116) from the floor and was sixth in scoring (5.6 ppg) and third in rebounding (4.3 rpg) while playing nearly 21 minutes per game...Posted then career highs of nine points, four steals and 28 minutes and added five rebounds in a win over UNC Greensboro (11/13)...scored seven-straight points in the first half of that game including a dunk and three-point play...Posted eight points and six rebounds in 21 minutes vs. Stony Brook (11/17)...Grabbed a career high eight rebounds in a 63-60 overtime win over Bucknell (11/21)...Hit a career-best 6-of-8 from the field to post a then career high 14 points and added seven rebounds and three steals in a career high 36 minutes of action in a 65-61 win over St. Joe's (11/25)...Had three dunks in the game and played strong defense in holding 6-9 Ahmad Nivins to four first half points...Equaled a then career high with 14 points and posted career highs in rebounds (9), assists (4) and free throw attempts (7) and tied career highs in field goal attempts (8) and free throws (4) in an 80-71 victory over Morgan State (12/2)...Recorded all 10 of his points and all of his four rebounds in the second half of a 66-45 victory over Long Island (12/13)...Set career highs with 20 points and five assists and added five boards in a 129-111 victory over VMI (12/30)...Excelled running up and down the floor in the fast paced game, getting seven dunks and shooting a career-best 9-of-11 from the floor...Posted his best career Big Ten game scoring 12 points and grabbing six boards in an 84-74 loss to Indiana (1/13)...Tied for the team high with six rebounds and scored six points in a 94-63 loss at Indiana (3/3).

2005-06 SEASON • SOPHOMORE Hassell started the first seven games of the season and averaged 15 minutes per contest in those games...Played in 22 of 30 games overall on the season averaging 8.2 minutes per game...Posted seven points and seven rebounds while playing 23 minutes vs. Long Island (11/26)...Shot a career-best four-for-four from the free throw line vs. New Hampshire...Scored six points and added two rebounds in a loss at Ohio State (1/5)...Pulled down four boards and added two points at Wisconsin (1/25)...Played with the 2005 Big Ten Foreign Tour Team during the summer averaging 7.4 ppg and 4.6 rpg (third on the team) while playing in all five games for the Big Ten team in Spain.

2004-05 SEASON • FRESHMAN Hassell played in 20 of Penn State's 30 games, including his first collegiate start on the road vs. No. 1 Illinois (1/12)...Played a season-high 18 minutes vs. the Illini in that contest...Top game was a five-point, four-rebound, two steal effort in his Big Ten debut vs. Michigan State (1/5)...Posted a season-best five rebounds vs. Minnesota (1/8)...Averaged 1.7 ppg and collected 2.0 rpg while shooting 44.1 percent from the field, hitting 15-of-34 shots.

HIGH SCHOOL Hassell was a two-year letterman at Valley View High School, where he was team captain both seasons...He earned all-district honors during his final year at VVHS and was an all-league and All-Southwest Ohio pick as well...Named to the Miller Publishing first team in the Germantown/Dayton area...Helped guide his team to the league title in his junior season and the sectional finals as a senior....Averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds per game as a junior and senior and owns the Valley View High School record for points in a game with 40 (a contest in which he also had 23 rebounds)...An outstanding student, Hassell completed the upper-level course curriculum at VVHS.

PERSONAL The son of O.J. and Bonnie Hassell, Brandon is the youngest of seven children, having three older brothers (Spencer, J.R. and Brad) and three older sisters (Sharrell, Tian and Lannet)...His father played collegiate basketball at Miami (Ohio) University...Brandon lists listening to music as his favorite pastime and his father as the person he most admires...A recreation, park and tourism management major.
