University Park, Pa., June 2, 2006 - The brand new state-of-the-art Medlar Field at Lubrano Park was completed on schedule, as the new facility received its certificates of occupancy and officially opened yesterday, June 1, which was the original scheduled date of completion. The State College Spikes organization has moved into its offices in the stadium and they will be followed in a few weeks by the Penn State baseball staff, which is tentatively scheduled to move in on June 15, just five days prior to the first game at the new facility.

As part of the occasion of the opening of Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, the State College Spikes are now offering free tours of the stadium to the public from today leading up to their season opener on June 20. Tours are being offered from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and this Saturday only, June 3 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Fans will be able to see the ins and outs of the new 5,406-seat facility.

The new Medlar Field at Lubrano Park is located at the corner of Porter and Curtain Rds., across from Beaver Stadium. The Penn State baseball team will begin play there in the 2007 season.
