Two Penn State Baseball Players Garner All-Big Ten Honors
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (May 26, 2004) The Big Ten Conference offices announced the 2004 All-Big Ten baseball teams on Tuesday and two Penn State pitchers were among those that were awarded for outstanding seasons. Sophomore Sean Stidfole (New Bloomfield, Pa.) was named to the conference¡¯s second team as a pitcher and senior Aaron Tressler (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa.) made the all-Big Ten third team, also as a pitcher. Stidfole becomes the first Nittany Lion to garner second team all-conference honors since Zack Smithlin (Outfield) and Dan McCall (Pitcher) did it in 2001. Stidfole and Tressler are the 45th and 46th Nittany Lion baseball players to pick up all-Big Ten honors since Penn State joined the conference in 1992. Big Ten regular season champion Minnesota and Ohio State split the individual honors. The Golden Gophers¡¯ Glen Perkins was named the Pitcher of the Year and John Anderson was named the Coach of the Year. The Buckeyes¡¯ Steve Caravati was tabbed the Big Ten¡¯s Player of the Year and Jacob Howell garnered the Freshman of the Year award.
