Big Ten Tournament Getting Late Start on Second Day Due to Weather

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (May 22, 2003) - The Big Ten Baseball Tournament has been under a rain delay on the second day, but the tarp has been taken off the field and No. 5 Northwestern will play No. 6 Indiana beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Barring any further delays, No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Michigan will begin one half hour after the end of the Wildcats and Hoosiers' game. No. 4 Penn State, which is 27-26 overall and 18-15 in the Big Ten, will take on No. 1 Minnesota one half hour after Ohio State/Michigan.

Freshman Sean Stidfole (Duncannon, Pa.) will take the mound for the Nittany Lions tonight and he will face Big Ten Freshman of the Year Glen Perkins.

Stidfole has logged 36.2 innings this year, posting a 3-1 record, 25 strikeouts and a 2.45 ERA.

Perkins will pitch for the Golden Gophers, who are 37-18 overall and 24-6 in the Big Ten. He is 9-1 with 101 strikeouts and a 2.75 ERA in 88.1 innings worked.
