EAST LANSING, Mich. (May 18, 2003) - The Penn State baseball team's 4-3 victory over Michigan State on Sunday afternoon clinched the fourth seed in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament, which will be played May 21-24 in Minneapolis, Minn. The Nittany Lions will play No. 5 seed Northwestern, which is 25-23 overall and 15-14 in the Big Ten, in the first game of the tournament beginning at 12:05 p.m. (CT) Wednesday at Siebert Field. All Penn State games in the tournament will be broadcast live by ESPN Radio WMAJ 1450 AM and a link to listen will be available at www.GoPSUsports.com. Penn State (26-26, 17-15), which is making its first tournament appearance since 2001, took three out of four games versus the Wildcats Apr. 18-20 at Beaver Field. The Nittany Lions gave up just 10 runs in the series for a 2.38 ERA. Third-seeded Michigan (29-25, 16-14) will take on No. 6 Indiana (33-20, 16-15) at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday in the tournament's other first-round game. The highest seeded winner of Wednesday's games will play No. 2 seed Ohio State at 3:35 p.m. Thursday and the lowest seed will play tournament host and No. 1 seed Minnesota at 7:05 p.m. Thursday.
