Penn State Baseball¡¯s Stidfole Earns Big Ten Weekly Honors for Shutout at Ohio State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (May 11, 2004) - Penn State sophomore pitcher Sean Stidfole (New Bloomfield, Pa.) was named Big Ten co-Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, becoming the third Nittany Lion to pick up the honors in as many weeks.

Stidfole tossed a five-hit, nine strikeout shutout, the first of his career, in Penn State¡¯s 1-0 victory at Ohio State on Saturday.

Stidfole is 3-0 with two complete games and a 0.44 ERA over his past three starts.

He joined senior Aaron Tressler (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa.) and senior Clayton Hamilton (Beaver Falls, Pa.) as Penn State pitchers who have earned at least a share of the weekly conference honors over the past three weeks.

The Nittany Lions split the four-game series with Ohio State to move their record to 26-20 overall and 15-9 in the Big Ten. Penn State is in a second place tie with the Buckeyes in the Big Ten standings, one game behind conference lead Minnesota.

The Nittany Lions will play their final non-conference game of the year, 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Villanova.
