Penn State baseball coach Robbie Wine today announed that right-handed junior college pitcher Andrew Palen has signed a national letter of intent to attend Penn State and play baseball. Joe Blackburn and Drew O'Neil Named to ABCA/Rawlings All-Mideast Region Second Team
Catcher Joe Blackburn and relief pitcher Drew O'Neil were named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-Mideast Region second team, it was announced today by the ABCA. The duo marks the first time in eight years, since the 2000 season, that Penn State baseball has had an honoree on the ABCA All-Region teams. Former Nittany Lions Michael Campo and Shawn Fagan were each named to the ABCA All-Region first team in 2000. Read More >>

The Penn State baseball team recently gave out its annual team awards for the recently concluded 2008 season. The annual awards are the F. Joseph Bedenk Award, for the team's most valuable player, the Shorty Stoner Award, for outstanding academic achievement, the Ed Drapcho Award, for the most improved player, and the Charles Medlar Award, for the most outstanding pitcher on the team. Drew O'Neil Drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the Fourth Round of MLB Draft
Penn State relief pitcher Drew O'Neil was drafted in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft today by the Chicago White Sox. The righthander was taken with the eighth pick of the fourth round, which was the 120th overall pick of the draft. This marks the second straight year that O'Neil has been drafted in the MLB draft, as he was also taken by the Cincinnati Reds in the eighth round last year with the 259th overall pick. Read More >>
