AS A RS-JUNIOR IN 2012: Had a tremendous season following his recovery from Tommy John surgery, appearing in 20 games and posting a 3.74 ERA in 21.2 innings of action ... Led the team in Big Ten play with a 1.46 ERA ... Opened the season against UAB on March 9, retiring one batter and allowing two earned runs in one inning ... Struck out three in 1.2 innings of relief in the win over Binghamton on April 4, holding the Bearcats scoreless while allowing just two hits ... Pitched a total of 2.1 innings over the Michigan series, allowing just two hits and two earned runs while striking out three ... Earned his first save of the season against Kent State on April 25, striking out a season-best five batters, including striking out the side in the eighth inning, and allowing just one hit in two innings ... Additionally began an 11.1-inning streak where he held opponents scoreless ... Took home his second save of the season on May 4 against Minnesota, striking out one batter and holding the Gophers hitless ... Earned three consecutive saves in the Illinois series, holding the Illini scoreless in each contest and combing for 3.0 innings, three strikeouts and just two hits allowed ... Continued to dominate Big Ten opponents, recording his fourth consecutive and sixth overall save of the season against Michigan State on May 17 ... Walkling retired two batters and held the Spartans hitless in one inning of action ... Earned his final, and fifth consecutive, save of the season the following day against Michigan State, walking one batter while allowing just one hit in a single inning.
AS A JUNIOR IN 2011: Had arguably the finest start to a career in Penn State history after going 5-0 with a 1.71 ERA during his first six outings with the Nittany Lions ... Opened the year with a victory in each of his first three appearances ... Earned his first win after firing 1.1 innings of shutout relief against West Virginia in his debut on Feb. 19 ... Struck out five and allowed just two hits during a spectacular 4.1-inning effort against Eastern Kentucky on Feb. 26 ... Continued his run with a win over N.C. State after striking out one in 1.2 innings of relief against the ACC power on March 4 ... Earned his first start of the season against Old Dominion on March 8, tossing three shutout innings with five strikeouts ... Pieced together his finest performance of the year in his next start against Norfolk State on March 13 ... Fired six innings and struck out 11, which matched the highest single-game effort in the Big Ten during the 2011 campaign ... Had his no-hit bid against the Spartans broken up with a lazy single to left in the fifth, which marked the only hit he surrendered ... Earned Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors for that performance ... Capped off his season with one last victory after striking out six in 4.2 innings of relief against No. 26 Wichita State on March 20 ... Underwent Tommy John surgery following that contest ... Ranked fifth in the NCAA with five wins and 15th in the nation with a 12.0 strikeouts-per-nine rate at the time of the injury.
AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2010 (MIDLAND COLLEGE): Appeared in 19 games with 13 starts on the mound ... Earned All-Conference honors after tallying an 8-6 record with two saves to go along with a 3.25 ERA ... Fired six complete games and posted a pair of shutouts during 91.1 innings of work ... Held opponents to a .224 batting average and recorded 76 strikeouts against only 26 walks.
AS A FRESHMAN IN 2009 (MIDLAND COLLEGE): Appeared in 11 games with four starts ... Posted a 3-0 record while striking out 22 in 22.2 innings of work ... Earned the victory in just his second career appearance against Temple on February 13 ... Added wins against College of Southwest and New Mexico.
HIGH SCHOOL: Excelled on the mound for the Nanaimo Pirates ... Led the team to the Provincial Championship ... Honored as the squad's top pitcher in 2007 and 2008 while earning MVP honors as a senior ... Selected as the league's top pitcher in 2008 ... Compiled a conference-best 0.58 ERA while tallying 105 strikeouts in 73 innings.
