AS A FRESHMAN IN 2011: Saw action in six games during his first year with Penn State ... Held the opposition scoreless during each of his first three appearances ... Struck out a pair during his collegiate debut against Notre Dame on February 20 ... Recorded two outs against Eastern Kentucky on February 27 and worked out of a jam during his inning on the mound against NC State on March 5 ... Wrapped up his freshman season with three appearances in April, including a one-inning outing against Kent State on April 5.
