Penn State Cross Country Academic All-Big Ten Athletes Named




State College, Pa., Dec. 10, 2004 - The Big Ten announced their cross country Academic All-Big Ten runners earlier this week. Nine men and eight women from Penn State's cross country teams were honored with the title. To earn All-Big Ten academic honors, the student must be a letterwinner in their second academic year and have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

For the men, seniors Chris Foster, Kyle Berseth, Matthew Lincoln, Ryan McGarry, Joel Moceri and juniors Ian McCann, Patrick Murphy, Benjamin Niebel and All-Big Ten and All-Region Dan Mazzocco were named Academic All-Big Ten.

For the women, seniors Colleen Connell, Megan Gilliland, Karli Kotulka, Chelsea Lenge, Kayla Matrunick, Sarah McFadden, Jennifer Stevens and junior Tracey Brauksieck were named Academic All-Big Ten.

Karli Kotulka, Chelsea Lenge, Kayla Matrunick and Jennifer Stevens have been named Academic All-Big Ten for the second season in a row. Chris Foster, Matthew Lincoln, Joel Moceri and Kyle Berseth have been named two years in a row as well.
