Mazzocco finishes 80th at NCAA Cross Country Championships

Waterloo, Iowa, Nov. 24, 2003 - Penn State freshman Dan Mazzocco (Pittsburgh, Pa.), the 2003 Mid-Atlantic Regional Champion and Cross Country Athlete of the Year, finished 80th Monday in his first appearance at the NCAA Cross Country Championships held in Waterloo, Iowa.

Mazzocco finished in a time of 30:44.4 on the 10-kilometer course in the race won by Colorado's Dathan Ritzenhein in 29:14.1. Stanford University won the NCAA team title posting an impressive score of 24. All five of the Cardinal scorers finished in the top 10. Big Ten foe Wisconsin was second with 174 points.
