Mazzocco finishes 43rd at NCAA Championships
Terre Haute, Ind. ¨C Junior Dan Mazzocco finished 43rd in his third consecutive NCAA Championship race. He clocked in at 30:23.8 for the 10,000 meter course. The overall champion was Big Ten rival Wisconsin, led by individual champion Simon Bairu. Arkansas and Notre Dame rounded out the top three. The Big Ten was well represented in the top ten finishers. Along with Bairu, Badger teammates Chris Solinsky and Matt Withrow finished third and ninth, respectively. ˇ°They just did it to perfection today,ˇ± said Wisconsin Head Coach Jerry Schumacher. Wisconsin took the team title, its first since 1998. Mazzocco, who earned an at-large bid at the Mid-Atlantic regional, has been a consistent top finisher for the Lions all season. With one more year of eligibility left, the future is bright for this Pittsburgh native and the Nittany Lions.
