Michelle Wale Competes in NCAA Cross Country Championships

Greenville, S.C.-The Penn State University women's cross country season officially ended on Monday with Freshman Michelle Wale's 134th place finish at the 2001 NCAA Cross Country Championships at Furman University.

Wale finished the course in a time of 22:26, just 2 minutes and 2 seconds behind the winner and NCAA Champion, Tara Chaplin of Arizona. The Brigham Young University Cougars easily took the team title with a score of 62 points.

The championships cap off an outstanding freshman campaign for Wale, a native of Pine Bush, New York. She paced the Nittany Lions in all six of their meets this season, and took second place overall in three different meets on the season.
