Women's Cross Country Finishes 14th at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional

BETHLEHEM, Pa.; November 12, 2005 - The Penn State women's cross country team completed their season today with a 14th place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, hosted by Lehigh University. The women scored a total of 380 points in the 6k race. Princeton finished first with a total of 64 points, Villanova followed with 98 and Georgetown was third with 103.

Senior Cack Ferrell from Princeton took first place in a time of 19:58.3. Senior Marina Muncan from Villanova took second place in a time of 20:13.2 and sophomore Frances Koons followed her teammate in a third place finish (20:25.8).

Freshman Janelle Young (Lemoyne, Pa.) finished first for Penn State with a 58th place finish and a time of 22:13.7. The other top seven finishes for Penn State were sophomore Nikki Bohnsack (Rockford, Mich.) who finished 60th (22:17.6), sophomore Sonja Hinish (Williamsburg, Pa.) finished 78th (22:32.5), junior Kelly Chadwick (State College, Pa.) finished 89th (22:46.9), senior and captain Kate Curran (Springfield, Pa.) finished 95th (22:56.4), and freshmen Claire Percival (Sarnia, Ontario) and Claire Berryman (Morgantown, W.V.) finished 101st (23:06.7) and 129th (23:41.0).
