Penn State Women's Cross Country Jumps Back into Polls at #24

State College, Pa., November 8, 2002 - Penn State women's cross country was ranked #24 in the 2002 Regular Season FinishLynx/NCAA Poll released on Nov. 5, 2002.

The poll, conducted by the Women's Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association, ranks Brigham Young #1, Stanford at #2 and Colorado at #3. Wake Forest and Notre Dame round out the top five ranked #4 and #5, respectively.

Nittany Lion Mid-Atlantic Regional rivals Georgetown and Villanova are also ranked in the poll, Georgetown at #7 and Villanova at #16. The Mid-Atlantic Region consists of teams in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, D.C., and West Virginia.

Penn State will be back in action again on Nov. 16 for the NCAA Regional, which will feature #7 Georgetown, #16 Villanova and #24 Penn State. The meet will be at the Cannan Valley Resort in Davis, WV. Runners will be running on a course at an elevation of 3,200 ft.
