Penn State Women's Cross Country Team Finishes Sixth at the Big Ten Championships

Iowa City, Iowa. Oct. 31, 2004- The Penn State women's cross country team finished sixth today at the Big Ten Championships, hosted by the University of Iowa. The women had a total of 135 points, just seven points shy of tying Indiana for fifth place. Michigan took first place with 45 points, Michigan State took second place with 85 points, Illinois took third place with 85 points as well and Minnesota took fourth place with 133 points.

Senior All-Big Ten and All-Region Molly Landreth (Newburyport, Pa.) finished fourth with a time of 21:03. Junior Tracey Brauksieck (Homer, N.Y.) finished 25th with a time of 22:08 and senior Kayla Matrunick (Labtrobe, Pa.) finished 32nd with a time of 22:19.

Finishing up the top seven spots for the women's team were senior Jenny Stevens (Hookset, Nh.) who finished 37th (22:26), freshman Nikki Bohnsack (Rockford, Mich.) finished 45th (22:34), senior Linsday Scottoline (Glenolden, Pa.) finished 70th (23:21) and freshman Sonja Hinish finished 78th (23:44).

Next up for the women Harriers is the NCAA Region II Championships on Nov. 13, which will be held at Penn State. The meet is set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
