Loren leads Nittany Lion scoring at Pre-Nationals




Terre Haute, Ind. Senior Josh Loren (Waterford, Pa.) was first across the line for the Nittany Lions on Saturday at the Pre-Nationals at Indiana State with a 124th place finish in a time of 25:29.3. No. 3 Colorado¡¯s Jorge Torres won the race in a time of 23:34.8.

Penn State finished 32nd overall with a score of 823. Out of the 36 total teams competing eight were ranked in the Top 25. Pre-National champions No. 3 Colorado scored 87 points, No. 16 Iona scored 125 for second and No. 19 Central Michigan was third place with 148. No. 9 Weber State finished fourth with 187 points and No. 7 Georgetown scored 197 points for fifth.

Rounding out the scoring for the Nittany Lions was sophomore Joel Moceri (Reading, Pa.) running a 25:38.2 for 141st place, sophomore Mike Gioia (Blue Point, N.Y.) in 25:59.1 for 180th place, senior Michael Enwright (Jamison, Pa.) placing 183rd in a time of 25:59.9 and junior Scott Munro (South Park, Pa.) placing 195th in a time of 26:06.2. Also placing for the Nittany Lions was sophomore Chris Foster (Severna Park, Md.) coming in at 233rd in a time of 26:51.9 and senior Steve Holmes (Waynesboro, Pa.) placing 236th in 26:57.5.

The Nittany Lions will be back in action again on Nov. 3 for the Big Ten Championships in West Lafayette, Ind. set to start at 11:00 a.m.
