UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -Penn State junior Colin Abert was named Big Ten cross country Athlete of the Week Wednesday following his performances Friday at the National Open at the Penn State Blue-White course.
Men’s Athlete of the Week
Colin Abert, Penn State
Jr. – Easton, Pa. – Easton
- Placed third at Penn State National Open in University Park, Pa., helping the host Nittany Lions to a runner-up team finish
- Recorded a time of 25:19 for the 5.2-mile race, good for a one-mile pace of 4:52
- The Nittany Lions’ 2016 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient earns his third career Big Ten Athlete of the Week honor and third this year
- Last Penn State Athlete of the Week: Colin Abert (Sept. 13, 2017)
Following Abert's performance, the men's team earned their first ranking of the season from USTFCCCA checking in at No. 30 in the nation and No. 5 in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Penn State returns to the course Sunday, Oct. 29 as they travel to the Big Ten Championships hosted by Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.
