Penn State to Host National Meet Saturday

University Park, Pa. October 4, 2006 - The Penn State Nittany Lions men¡¯s and women¡¯s track teams will host the Penn State National Cross Country Meet this Saturday, bringing in over 20 teams from as far as Oklahoma. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with the women¡¯s race.

Both teams will be looking to build on their strong performances so far this season. Two weekends ago, both teams took second place overall at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational. Senior Dan Mazzocco (Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished second overall for the men, while freshman Bridget Franek (Hiram, Ohio) took fourth for the women. The women won the Lock Haven Invitational to kick off the season, while the men took second. Both teams were again lead by Franek and Mazzocco, respectively.
