Penn State men¡¯s cross country preview for the week of Sept 29-Oct. 3
The Penn State men¡¯s cross country will compete in two meets this weekend sending some of the team to Adidas Notre Dame Invitational and others to the Paul Short run. The 48th Annual Adidas Notre Dame Invitational will be run on the very flat Burke Memorial Golf Course on Friday starting at 5:00 p.m. The Invitational is one of the oldest and longest intercollegiate races in the country with the men¡¯s race dating back to 1956. Several of the top teams in the country will be running which should give the Nittany Lions some good competition. The Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh will take place on Saturday starting at 10:00 a.m. Sophomore Dan Mazzocco, returning from an injury last season, is the Nittany Lions top runner right now after leading the team in both meets so far this season. The Mondo Men¡¯s NCAA-I Cross Country Poll was released on Sept. 30 with Stanford ranked at No. 1. The only Big Ten teams ranked are Wisconsin at No. 2 and Michigan at No. 12. However, Minnesota and Michigan State also received votes in the poll. The Big Ten Meet will be on Nov. 2 hosted by Michigan State.
