Penn State Men's Cross Country Opens The Season At The Roy Griak
University Park, Pa. - It was a long time coming, but it finally arrived. The Penn State men's cross country team opened its 2001 season with a 23rd place showing (478 points) at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. Nittany Lion senior Steve Walsh (Blue Bell, Pa.) took 42nd out of 311 runners with a time of 24:54.7. Sophomore Scott Munro (South Park, Pa.) finished 50th with a time of 25 minutes even. Other Nittany Lion finishers included: senior Gregg Davis (88th, 25:17.1); senior John McGrorey (104th, 25:24.5); freshman Jim Wiggin (194th, 26:04.0); junior Josh Loren (195th, 26:05.8); sophomore Francis Lambert (26:55.0). The rest of the Nittany Lion harriers competed in the George Washington Invitational, as Penn State finished first with a team score of 48 points. Penn State will again be in action next Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa. The race begins at 11 a.m. Gold Men's Results Les Bolstad Golf Course, St. Paul
