UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's cross country team opens week three at No. 19 in the latest NCAA Division I Cross Country National Coaches Poll, as announced Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The Nittany Lion women have been idle following their fourth-consecutive Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational title dating back to 2012.
At the regional level, both the men's and women's cross country teams remained the No. 3 and No. 2 teams in the Mid-Atlantic region, respectively.
The Nittany Lions hit the course again Saturday, Oct. 3 when they travel to Louisville, Ky. for the Greater Louisville Classic.
The Greater Louisville Classic will be the first meet that will count towards NCAA Championship points, and also serve as a beneficial course preview for the NCAA Championships hosted by Louisville Nov. 21.
USTFCCCA tabbed the Greater Louisville Classic as one of four meets to keep a close eye on across the country this weekend, noting that six top-30 teams headline the field at Louisville, including No. 6 Iowa State, No. 8 Michigan, No. 11 Wisconsin and No. 13 West Virginia.
