Penn State men¡¯s cross country takes third at Lock Haven Invitational
LOCK HAVEN, PA., SEPT. 27, 2003- The Penn State men¡¯s cross country team took third place at the Lock Haven Invitational with a score of 102 points. The West Virginia Track Club was first place (32) and Princeton came in at second (50).
Sophomore Dan Mazzocco was the top runner for the Nittany Lions with a second place finish in a time of 24:41.42. West Virginia Track Club¡¯s Casey Batey won the race in a time of 24:32.14.
Junior Chris Foster was the next runner across the line for the Nittany Lions placing 20th in a time of 25:42.49. Junior Scott Munro was 23rd (25:50.57), sophomore Shaun Cavanaugh took 31st (26:05.51) and junior Joel Moceri was 33rd (26:08.69).
Sophomore Chris Nirschel took 37th in a time of 26:17.26. Sophomore Dorian McDonald came in at 38th (26:17.87) and senior Josh Loren was 42nd (26:24.18).
The Lock Haven course that the Nittany Lions ran on today is the same course that they will run on for the NCAA Region II Championships on Nov. 15.
Next week Penn State is back in action for the Adidas Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind. on Oct. 3. Then, on Oct. 4 the team will travel to Bethlehem, Pa. for the Paul Short Invitational.
