The Penn State Women¡¯s Cross Country team finishes third at Spiked Shoe Meet

STATE COLLEGE, PA., SEPT. 24, 2005 ¨C The Penn State women¡¯s cross country team finished third at the Spike Shoe Invitational, hosted by Penn State. The women finished with a total score of 109, Yale took first place with 34 points and Indiana University of Pennsylvania finished second (94).

Sophomore Nikki Bohnsack (Rockford, Michigan) led the pack for the Nittany Lions by finishing sixth in a time of 22:12. Freshman Janelle Young (Lemoyne, Pennsylvania) finished 17th (22:36) and sophomore Sonja Hinish (Williamsburg, Pennsylvania) finished close behind in a time of 22:39.

Other notable performances were from freshman Claire Berryman (Morgantown, West Virginia) who finished 33rd (23:13), captain and senior Mary Kate Curran (Springfield, Pennsylvania) finished 34th (23:15), freshman Molly Ritter (Arendtsville, Pennsylvania) finished 37th (23:17) and sophomore Fiana York (Havertown, Pennsylvania) finished 39th with a time of 23:22.

Next up for the women Harriers is the Paul Short Invitational on October 1st.
