Chicago, Ill., Sept. 11, 2002 - Penn State freshman cross country runner Tracey Brauksieck was named the Big Ten Conference's Cross Country Athlete of the Week Wednesday. Brauksieck was victorious in her first-ever collegiate race, winning the Spiked Shoe Meet last Saturday in State College, Pa. Brauksieck led the race from wire-to-wire, cruising the six-kilometer course in 21:10, more than 17 seconds in front of the second-place finisher. Her time is the 11th best ever run on the Penn State course and her first-place outing helped the Nittany Lions tally a score of just 22 points and defeat 16 other squads for the team title.
