University Park, Pa., August 8, 2006- The Penn State men¡¯s and women¡¯s cross country schedules for the Fall 2006 season have been announced, with both teams running two home meets.

The schedule is the same for the men¡¯s and women¡¯s teams, which will simplify the program¡¯s transition to a one head coach system. Coach Beth Alford-Sullivan will be present at the meets as the head, while new addition to the staff John Gondak is the event coach.

The Nittany Lions open the season on September 16 at Lock Haven, then return for a two-meet home stand at the White Course. On September 23, the Lions will host the Spiked Shoe Invitational, and the always competitive Penn State National Invitational is scheduled for October 7. Following this, both teams will run at the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., on October 14.

The 2006 Big Ten Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Indiana University this year on October 29. The NCAA Regional Meet will be November 11 at Lock Haven, and the NCAA Championships, also in Terre Haute, will take place on November 20.
