All-Academic Individual | All-Academic Team
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State cross country squads, along with three individuals were recognized for their strong work in the classroom by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Friday afternoon.
Both the Penn State men's and women's cross country teams were recognized with the NCAA DI Cross Country Team Academic Awards. Individually, women's squad members Tessa Barrett and Elizabeth Chikotas were recognized as All-Academic, while Robby Creese picked up All-Academic honors representing the Nittany Lion men’s team.
Redshirt-freshman Tessa Barrett led the women’s team to a 16th-place finish in the 2015 NCAA Cross Country Championships with her All-American finish, the first since Caitlin Lane's 16th-place finish in 2011, claiming 38th–place in a time of 20:26.7.
To be eligible for the team award, teams must have a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.0. To earn the individual award, student-athletes must have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.25, and finish in the top-25 at NCAA Regionals or as an All-American (top-40) at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
