After a solid preseason in 2006, O'Connor saw his season come to a halt after breaking his collarbone. But in undeniably the most inspirational comeback of the season, O'Connor quickly bounced back and finished the season in the Nittany Lion top seven. O'Connor continued to improve throughout the spring, running outstanding 10Ks at both Penn Relays and the Big Ten Championships. From Archbishop Ryan in Philadelphia, O'Connor lettered his freshman year in cross country. He was an All-Catholic first-team selection all four years in high school.
