Sonja Hinish Class: Senior Hometown: Williamsburg, Pa. High School: Bishop Guilifoyle

Hinish returns this fall for her final cross country campaign in the blue and white. As a junior, Hinish finished in the Penn State top seven during every meet last season, running as the team's third runner at both the Big Ten Championships and Regionals. An outstanding team leader, Hinish has been a multiple-time team captain, and has put up tremendous marks in both cross country and track and field, including regional qualifying performances in the steeplechase during the past two outdoor seasons.

- Fifth at the Lock Haven University Invitational - 21st at the Spiked Shoe Meet (22:39), team finished third overall - Top third out of over 300 runners at the Paul Short Run (22:20) - Top third out of 289 runners at the Penn State National (22:58) - Solid run (22:32.5) at the 2005 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional

Hinish began to show promise during her freshman season in 2004 and she should continue to establish herself this season. She finished in the top seven for Penn state in both the Big Ten Championships and the Roy Griak Invitational, finishing 78th and 132nd respectively. During high school she was six-time PIAA state medalist and a 10-time District Six Champion.
