Brett Kershner Takes First Place in the Javelin at the Penn Relays

Philadelphia, Pa., May 1, 2005- The Penn State men's track and field team traveled to Philadephia this weekend to participate in the Penn Relays, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania. The men collected five NCAA regional qualifying bids at the meet.

Senior¡¯s Chris Lolagne, Jaret Campisi, Ernie Terrell and junior Alex Langan broke the 19 year old Penn State record in the 4x200 meter relay. The teammates finished fifth in the Championships of America division.

Junior Brett Kershner finished first in the college javelin division with an NCAA regional qualifying throw of 208-06. Senior Chris Foster also performed well, by finishing second in the college 3,000 meter steeplechase in an NCAA regional qualifying time of 8:51.84. In the college pole vault division, senior Dave Bollinger finished second with an NCAA regional qualifying jump of 16-08 ?.

Sophomore Jon Hart finished ninth in the college men's hammer throw with an NCAA regional qualifying throw of 185-04. Junior Dane Miller finished fourth in the college division of the shot put with an NCAA regional qualifying throw of 54-11 ?.

In the IC4A college division Penn State finished second in the 4x100 meter relay in a time of 40.92. The relay team consisted of Langan, Terrell, Lolagne and Campisi. In the college sprint medley championship of America's division, Lolagne, Terrell, Campisi and junior Matt Lincoln finished fifth in a time of 3:19.14.

Sophomore Ryan Kleintop finished ninth in the eastern triple jump division with a mark of 45-01 ?. Junior Scott Vernon finished 15th in the college hammer division with a mark of 180-00.
