After competing exclusively at home for the first five weeks of the season, the Nittany Lion track & field squads are leaving Happy Valley for the first time during the 2014 indoor season this weekend. While the distance runners will head all the way to Seattle for the Washington Husky Classic, the rest of the squad will stay closer to home at the SPIRE D-I Invitational in Geneva, Ohio.
"We are excited to be traveling the distance runners to the Husky Classic," said Director and Head Coach of Track and Field and Cross Country Beth Alford-Sullivan. "It is the annual showdown for great distance race and our squad is prepared to take advantage of great competition.
"The Spire meet will have the majority of our Lions and we will look to preview the facility and competition prior to the Big Tens. Our teams are fighting cold and flu bugs, but we are excited to compete on the road for our final regular season meet."
Action kicks-off at the SPIRE D-I Invitational at 1 p.m. ET Friday, February 14. Washington Husky Classic Action begins at 7 p.m. ET in Seattle.
After this weekend's competition, Penn State will head to the Big Ten Championships on Feb. 28 and March 1 in Geneva, Ohio.
