Beaver Wins 2007 PSUAC Baseball Championship in Thrilling Fashion

April 29, 2007

The 2007 PSUAC Baseball Championship was held at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park - one of the best of its kind in the country. Beaver showed great persistence in winning four games on the final day of competition to win the 2007 PSUAC Championship over Delaware after losing the first game of the tournament to Delaware the previous day. A determined Beaver team showed outstanding competitiveness winning three games in a row on Sunday, April 29 in the tournament that was adjusted because of rain. Field conditions were excellent thanks to the field crew led by Matt Neri, who did an amazing job in questionable weather. Thanks also goes to Spikes General Manager Rick Janac and Penn State Baseball Facility Coordinator, Kevin Henry, for making this fantastic experience possible.

Beaver began play at 9:00AM on Sunday eliminating top seed Penn College and was still playing under the lights over 12 hours later as they defeated Delaware for the championship. The competition at the new Medlar Field at Lubrano Park included some of the best baseball the conference has ever seen. After a rainy start on Saturday, the sun made for perfect baseball weather on Sunday.
