2006 Fayette Women's Volleyball


Penn State Fayette defeated a strong Penn College team, 23-30, 30-21, 15-10 in the finals of the PSUAC 2006 women's volleyball championship at University Park. To get to the finals, Fayette defeated York in the first round, 2-1 and then defeated Penn College in the semi-finals 2-0 in the double elimination tournament. Penn College defeated Mont Alto two times for the right to play Fayette in the rematch for the finals. Fayette continued their winning ways in the tournament after compiling a 20-6 overall record including a 15-1 conference record. Despite a small roster, the 7 dedicated Lady Lions fought hard to finish with an outstanding .769 win percentage, and an 8-0 home record, coming up big both in and out of conference. Penn State Fayette turned some heads this season, knocking of both NCAA III Chatham College (3-1) and LaRoche University (3-1), making a name for themselves in the local volleyball scene. Sophomore outside hitter, Abby Holbrook and Freshman setter, Rachel Dunhman came up big October 2 - 11 earning USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) Player/Setter of the Week honors. Abby put up huge numbers, posting 9.6 kills/game, 9.2 digs/game, and 2.4 aces/game, while Dunham handed out an amazing 150 assists, earning the Lions a 5-0 record on the week.
