THON 2010

Every year the Lionettes Dance Team donates their time to raising money for the Four Diamonds Fund. The Four Diamonds Fund is an organization that helps raise money for kids with pediatric cancer at the Hershey Medical Center. THON is a dance marathon that includes no sleeping or sitting for 46 hours straight. This year the Lionettes raised almost $20,000 to add to the total amount of $7.83 million all for the kids! The Lionettes get to choose four dancers to represent them THON weekend staying awake and on their feet for 46 hours. This year the four dancers chosen to represent the team were Erin Zoch (Senior, Kinesiology), Alexandra Scott (Junior, Engineering), Chelsea Dolchin (Junior, Education), and Kristen Fedeli (Junior, Business). They all successfully stood for the 46 hours, and performed with the team during the opening of athlete hour. Many of the other members of the team participated and help captain positions on many of the committees such as, morale, rules and regulations, entertainment, and hospitality just to name a few. For the fifth year in a row, the Lionettes Dance Team has been given the opportunity to adopt a Four Diamonds Family and get to know them. Our THON family is the Fazekas, and their daughter Ashley. When Ashley was two, she was diagnosed with Leakumia and since then has undergone extensive chemotherarpy. As their THON organization, we have been able to support the Fazekas through these rough times and offer them our prayers, thoughts, and love. I am happy to report that as of June 2008 Ashley is officially in remission! Not only do the girls show their pride for athletics and their school but also for the community.
