UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Football's Evan Royster (Fairfax, Va.) and women's volleyball's Arielle Wilson (Broadview, Ill.) have been named this week's Penn State Student-Athletes of the Week.

Royster broke his career high for rushing yardage with 141 yards on 17 carries, and scored three touchdowns in Saturday's 45-14 victory against Oregon State. This marks his second career 100-yard rushing game after his previous high of 126 rushing yards last season against Purdue.

The sophomore tailback scored all three touchdowns in the first half, helping Penn State to a 35-7 lead, and left the game mid-third quarter. Royster has scored a combined six touchdowns in the first two games of the season, the first Nittany Lion player to accomplish the feat since Lydell Mitchell had six against Navy and Iowa in the first two games of 1971 (five vs. Navy, one vs. Iowa).

Under Joe Paterno, Royster is the only player to have six rushing touchdowns in his first two games, as Mitchell had five rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown. He is the first Nittany Lion with a combined six touchdowns in consecutive games since Larry Johnson Jr. ran for eight touchdowns (4 in each game) vs. Indiana and Michigan State in the final two regular season games in 2002.

Wilson was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Nittany Lion Invitational after leading the top-ranked Penn State team to three more sweeps to remain undefeated at 6-0.

Against Long Island on Friday, Wilson recorded six kills and four blocks and against George Washington she tallied five kills and five blocks. In the night-cap against Villanova Wilson recorded a match-high 10 kills on .529 hitting with a match-high eight blocks.

For the weekend, the sophomore middle hitter tallied 21 kills on .341 hitting with a team high 17 blocks, good for 1.89 blocks per game.
