Big Ten Network To Celebrate Penn State Day on Sunday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; - The Big Ten Network will air several of the Nittany Lions' most memorable victories on Sunday, June 21, with 24 consecutive hours of Penn State programming.

The Penn State men's basketball, football, women's soccer and men's and women's track and field teams will be among the teams featured on Penn State Day.

This weekend launches with the 2008-09 Big Ten Network Awards show, which will air on Friday, June 19 at 10:00 p.m. On Saturday, the Network will air Penn State's 49-18 football victory over Michigan State to clinch the conference title at 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. The Big Ten's Top Ten football games of the year show will air Saturday at 10:00 p.m.

Penn State Day begins Sunday at 6:00 a.m. with the Nittany Lion Basketball team's thrilling 65-63 victory over No. 2 Michigan State in the 2001 Big Ten Tournament.

Viewers can catch the 2009 Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field Championships at 8:00 a.m. ET. The women's team won its second consecutive title and the men's team boasted three individual champions. The Penn State women's soccer team also won the conference tournament last fall, and the championship game versus Minnesota will air at 12:00 p.m.

Episodes of Big Ten's Greatest Games featuring the Nittany Lions will air throughout the day. At 5:00 p.m., the network will air the 2008 Nittany Lion Basketball team's victory over No. 7 Michigan State. The 1983 Sugar Bowl, in which Penn State beat Georgia, 27-23, in a battle of the top two teams for the national championship, will air at 7:00 p.m.

Penn State campus programming episodes will be featured during the day, including Making the Blue Band (11:00 a.m.), Cooking Camp (3:00 p.m.), and Penn State Impact: The Economy and the Graduate (4:00 p.m.).

In addition to Sunday, the Big Ten Network will air two more Penn State Days featuring different programming on Friday, July 10 and Wednesday, July 22.

6 a.m. Big Ten's Greatest Games Nittany Lion Basketball: Penn State 65, Michigan State 63 (3/9/01) Joe Crispin made an off-balance three-pointer with 21 seconds left and then sealed Penn State's victory with a pair of free throws as the Nittany Lions upset the Spartans in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament. The No. 2 Spartans were the highest-ranked team Penn State had ever defeated.

8 a.m. Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field 2009 Big Ten Outdoor Championships (5/17/09) The Penn State women's team won its second-consecutive conference title and sophomore Shavon GReaves won both the 100 and 200 meter events. Three individuals on the men's side won championships, including senior Tanner Evak in the javelin, sophomore Ryan Foster in the 800 meters and senior Clarence Smith in the triple jump events.

11 a.m. Penn State Campus Programming Making the Blue Band

12 p.m. Big Ten Women's Soccer Big Ten Championship: Penn State 2, Minnesota 1 (11/9/08) The score was tied after the first half of play, but the Nittany Lions' defense shut down the Gophers and Penn State scored their second goal in the 65th minute. Danielle Toney was named Big Ten Tournament Most Valuable Offensive Player and Alyssa Naeher was named Big Ten Tournament Most Valuable Defensive Player.

2 p.m. Big Ten Short Stories Penn State Nittany Lions This episode features the Lift for Life fundraising event, the two-part series on the men's basketball team's preseason trip to Canada and a special on the gymnastics team.

2:30 p.m. Penn State Basketball Story The Penn State Coaches' Show discussed the season in review.

3 p.m. Penn State Campus Programming Cooking Camp

3:30 p.m. Big Ten Network Original Programming Conversations with Dave Revsine: Suzie McConnell Serio Dave Revsine sat down with former Nittany Lion basketball player and WNBA veteran Suzie McConnell Serio.

4 p.m. Penn State Campus Programming Penn State Impact: The Economy and the Graduate

5 p.m. Big Ten's Greatest Games Nittany Lion Basketball: Penn State 85, Michigan State 76 (2/2/08) Missing their leading scorer, but fueled by guards Talor Battle and Stanley Pringle, Penn State upset No. 7 Michigan State, ending the Spartans' five-game win streak. Battle scored 17 points and had four assists and two steals. Pringle scored a career-high 19 points and six rebounds.

7 p.m. Big Ten's Greatest Games Football: Sugar Bowl: Penn State 27, Georgia 23 (1/1/83) In a battle of the top two teams, No. 2 Penn State won its first consensus National Championship by holding off a top-ranked Georgia team led by Heisman winner Herschel Walker.

11 p.m. Big Ten's Greatest Games Football: Penn State 37, Boston College 30 (11/3/84) Despite a great performance by Heisman winner Doug Flutie, who threw for 447 yards, Penn State held off No. 9-ranked Boston College to come away with the upset victory.

4 a.m. Big Ten's Greatest Games Nittany Lion Basketball: Penn State 68, Indiana 64 (OT) (3/9/08) After trailing by as many as eight with 11:15 to play, Penn State closed the gap to 52-50 with 6:55 remaining. Penn State freshmen scored 12 of the last 14 points of regulation and five of 10 overtime points to lead the Lions to victory.
