Big Ten Network President to Appear on Sports Jam Network¡¯s ¡°PA Sports Saturday¡±




UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., May 4, 2007 - Mark Silverman, president of the Big Ten Network, will be a special guest on the Sports Jam Network¡¯s ¡°PA Sports Saturday¡± program tomorrow on radio affiliates throughout the Commonwealth.

Silverman will be a guest on the program at 11:05 a.m. with host Jed Donahue. Listeners can ask questions by calling 1-800-731-1787.

¡°PA Sports Saturday¡± and all Sports Jam Network programming is heard on more than 20 affiliates in the Commonwealth, including WBLF (970) in State College, and at http://penn.live.advance.net/sportsjamnet/#.

Silverman and several members of the Big Ten Network staff were on the University Park campus today to visit athletic facilities and for a series of meetings with Penn State staff in preparation for the August launch of the Network.

The sports programming on the Big Ten Network and alternative platforms will include, but is not limited to:

  • More than 35 football games each season
  • More than 105 regular season men¡¯s basketball games, with four to six weeknight games and four to seven weekend games per week
  • A nightly studio show including segments from each campus
  • Women¡¯s sports, including basketball, volleyball, soccer and softball
  • More than 170 Olympic sporting events including baseball, soccer, tennis, volleyball, swimming, diving and more
  • Classic games and historical footage from ESPN and ABC libraries
  • Original, non-sports programming produced by Big Ten member universities showcasing their academic excellence, talented students and award-winning programs
  • Weekly coaches shows
