Student-Athletes Set to Take Part in Special Olympics All-Sports Day
Jan. 13, 2010 UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Nagle CHAMPS Life Skills Program is hosting a Special Olympics All-Sports Day on Sunday, Jan. 17. Several student-athletes from a wide variety of sports will be present to assist and join in several activities with the Special Olympics athletes. The event, which will take place in room 126 in the White Building, is set for 4-5:30 p.m. The event will be have a carnival-like atmosphere with sports, skill clinics, games, arts and crafts, food and fun. Penn State student-athletes will be on hand to spend time with Centre County Special Olympics athletes as they take part in activities such as broomball, skill clinics, obstacle courses, relays, mock game day interviews, face painting and more! The Nagle CHAMPS Life Skills Program is one of many programs offered by the Morgan Center, which provides academic support for student-athletes. The CHAMPS (Challenging Athletes' Minds for Personal Success) program began in 1989 and was developed to better prepare student-athletes for the challenges of life beyond the athletic arena. |
