Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel on the pass from Terrelle Pryor to DeVeir Posey: "We felt like if we had good field position it was time to strike."

Tressel on if the game was what he expected: "This was going to be a field position game. No one was going to drive it (all the time)."

The photo was taken by Penn State athletic department photographer Mark Selders.

Senior linebacker Sean Lee: Says they're taking it week-by-week with him. "The way I felt today and the way I felt in practice- I felt great. I felt a little twinge so they thought it was smart for me to stay out.... It's something that I just have to deal with as I come back. I could've played (after I felt the twinge), but we already had a 20-point lead."

Redshirt-Senior Tailback Evan Royster on the difference in the run game the past 3 games: I think we're just growing as an offense. We're spreading things out and our offensive line is still growing.

Redshirt-Senior Linebacker Navarro Bowman on the shutout: "We didn't plan on shutting them out, but its a goal and it's a positive thing for us.

Graduate Senior Quarterback Daryll Clark: On how much off we were able to generate- The defense did a great job once again. They gave us a ton of opportunities to put points on the board

Back to Coach Paterno: Thinks part of Royster's emergence is due to him finally overcoming his illness.

From the Minnesota press conf- Coach Brewster: Penn State was better than we were today and Joe was better than i was today.

Coach is not sure how bad Sean Green is hurt.

On the fans...They like 2 come, they like 2 have a little fun & they like & see Penn State play. I think it's a great feeling for the kids... I know it is for me.

Thought the fans coming with all of the weather adversity was a tribute to the fans Penn State has.

"We moved the ball well, but we didn't move the ball particularly well in the redzone."

Coach Paterno: "I think we played a very good defensive football game- we were sloppy offensively."

Q: Was the plan to try to ease Sean Lee in? Coach seemed to think that with the weather and all, the time Lee got was good.

First question for Coach Paterno was about instant replay- Coach is still a big fan after being a big proponent.

TEMPLE GAMEDAY!!!!

The GoPSUsports.com Photo of the Game: Chaz Powell on his 24-yard run in the first quarter. He also tallied a team-best 40 receiving yards.

Heard in the Media Room Postgame:

The buzz among the media members recently has been the mustache of linebacker Josh Hull. He was heard telling the story of how the famous mustache came to be. He said that he and Mickey Shular were watching a Big Ten Network classic game between Penn State and Northwestern, when Ron Vanderlinden was still coaching the Wildcats. Hull said they kept referring to the great linebackers that "Vandy" had coached, like Pat Fitzgerald, they all seemed to have mustaches. Hull decided if he was going to be one of Vandy's greats that he would grow the now infamous "stache".

Quarterback Daryll Clark was heard saying that even though the offense hasn't been clicking on all cylinders yet, he is looking at next week as a fresh start against Iowa. "We are 0-0 in conference play."

Defensive coordinator Tom Bradley said that his defense played with a lot of passion at times today, but there were also many plays where they played without it. He says the defense needs to play with that passion more consistently.

Offensive lineman Dennis Landolt said he really loved the way Johnnie Troutman played today and sees him vying for a spot on the offensive line for the rest of the season.

Safety Drew Astorino was very impressed with Temple quarterback Vaughn Charlton's play and said that his effort today really challenged the defense and helped prepare them for next week against Iowa

When asked about his team's performance today, head coach Joe Paterno said "overall we played better today than we have all year."

Paterno on the difference in the success of the running game this week versus the first two games this season when the run game seemed to struggle some: "We made some improvements from previous weeks, but we have to be able to run against seven in the box. The first two teams there were eight and nine guys in the box."

While he was disappointed that his team was not ready for it, Paterno was very impress by the on-side kick made by Temple's Brandon McManus. "it was a heck of a kick. He made that ball skip off the grass, which is hard to do. It was a great play for them."

The GoPSUsports.com Photo of the Game was an easy one this week... after the Royster reception that made the stadium buzz, it had to be him!

Heard in the Media Room Postgame:

After being asked by a media member to comment on Coach Paterno comparing him to Jack Ham, Sean Lee talked about how it's the ultimate compliment since he's the ultimate Penn State linebacker. He then asked Lee what if he played for the Steelers, too. Leaving the media room, Lee said "I'd pass out if I played for the Steelers."

Linebacker Sean Lee on Paulus- Said you can tell he's come back from a few years off because of how quickly he leaves the pocket. "Still... he's been out five years and he's making great plays. He's just gonna get better and better."

Sean Lee said oddly you cherish practice more as you get older. Lee said he definitely feels that way after his knee injury last year.

Sean Lee on what happened when the team got kicked off the practice field Wednesday- Coach said "get off-we're wasting our time." Lee said him and www.netitor.com/javascript/wysiwyg/tiny_mce/themes/advanced/langs/en.js">Daryll knew what to do and addressed the squad. He said Coach let the leaders take care of it and a lot of little mistakes led up to coach's actions.

Sean Lee on if he watches college basketball- He said he used to watch more when he was younger. "I actually was a Pitt basketball fan. Now I'm a Penn State fan. I liked how they played D." Thank goodness he's not a Pitt fan anymore!

Sean Lee on the defense- "I thought we (the defense) did well. We just have to keep being more consistent."

Dennis Landolt on the Defense- "I think we're where we need to be, but we need to keep climbing, keep building."

Running back Evan Royster- Says the run blocking is a lot more complicated, so it will take more time to come along.

Evan Royster- "We need to show ourselves that we can pound it in there."

Quarterback Daryll Clark on the Syracuse defense- Said it was very different from last year- much more aggressive. Blitzed a lot. "We took what they gave us."

Daryll Clark on the fumble near the goal line- Said the rhythm of the snap was off on the fumble. It was supposed to be a play action to Mickey Shular.

Stefen Wisniewski on the offensive line- "We're just not getting any push up front...gotta get lower...gotta play harder."

From Defensive Coordinator Tom Bradley: Says the defense has seen just about every formation and that they've been trying to keep things simple so far because of all the young players on the unit.

Coach Paterno postgame: Coach was careful to point out that the fumble on the goal line was the exchange, that it was not Clark's fumble.

On Sean Lee's performance: "I think Sean's a great football player." He reminds him of (Jack) Ham, maybe just a step slower.

On Bowman: He'll be close for next game. "If he's not 100% iit's not fair to stick him in there."

On Royster at wideout: "Royster can do it all- he's a heckuva athlete. We're trying to do a lot of different things."

Coach Paterno: "I'm just trying to make sure we have a balanced football team."

On whether the secondary has been tested enough: "I think we played well enough to win 2 games-Period." Coach doesn't think anything has been tested thoroughly yet.

The press box won't be this quiet again today!

8:40 a.m.- Still protecting the playing surface with the rain falling in State College.

A forecast from our PA announcer and ACCUWEATHER employee Dean Devore:

Good morning....

No real change to the forecast thinking this morning...

The steady rain shut off around 6:45pm or so last night. Since then there have two quick showers that have gone through, only putting down about another 0.01 inch of rain.

There is an area of steadier rain over the Poconos that has me a little concerned. It's rotating counterclockwise towards us. However, two things...1) seems like anything coming towards from the east is dying out as it gets into eastern Centre County. And 2) the heaviest rain from that, even if it does hold together, may stay to our east anyway.

So the thinking from yesterday holds. The morning will be cloudy and damp with low clouds shrouding the mountains; there could be some drizzle or a shower. Temperatures will hold in the upper 50s to near 60 for the morning....I still believe as the afternoon wears on, the clouds will lift....the afternoon will still be mainly cloudy but it will have somewhat of a drier feel to it. Game time temps probably in the low to mid 60s.

Best tailgating weather would then be after the game.

So come join us for Tailgreat...Good Halftime Blue Band music this week for Classic Week...and a couple of special surprises...

If anything changes, I'll have an update...

8:30 a.m.- Stadium still quiet...just PA tests and a tarped field. Hope the rain stops soon for our tailgaters!

In the press room after the game...

LB Sean Lee: "Rehabbing is no fun. You want to play football. I'm finally back doing what I'm here for."

WR Chaz Powell: On people thinking PSU lacks receivers: "We've always got something to prove b/c we've got so many doubters out there."

DE Jack Crawford: Says he had a lot of confidence in this year's secondary because he sees them perform everyday.

Daryll Clark said the receivers were excited by their performance. They felt like people had questions about them and for them to have a great game the first time out was great to see.

Throngs of people heading up front to talk to Daryll Clark

Visiting team lockerroom: Brookhart said: PSU receivers were very talented and made a bunch of plays today. Also said that Daryll Clark put them in that situation.

From Tom Bradley in the press room: "I think he (Sean Lee) and Coach were the two most excited guys to come out today"

On Derek Moye: 'I think he did well." He didn't think he took advantage of some of the things that Akron was doing in the secondary.

On the running game: Overall "we'll have to be a better running team than we were today"

On jogging on to the field "Did ya clock me on the 100 meters?" Everyone laughed. Coach said he just wanted to see if he could do it. We had no doubt!

Coach Paterno's Postgame Press Conference:

Coach is in the media room. Even though we dominated he's not overjoyed. He doesn't have the most wins in D-I FB by expecting less than the best!

Off the field during the game...
