Location & HousingAll Penn State Sport Camps are conducted on Penn State's University Park campus in State College, Pa. Resident campers are housed in University residence halls, supervised by camp counselors. Bed linens are provided. Resident campers should bring a blanket, a pillow, towels, a swimsuit, toiletries and other personal items. Other optional items recommended include a fan, an alarm clock and sunscreen. Laundry facilities are available in the residence halls. DO NOT BRING VALUABLES TO CAMP. PENN STATE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS.
Campers can indicate one roommate preference on the registration form. Listing a roommate preference does not guarantee enrollment of the roommate in the camp. We will do our best to fulfill roommate requests; however, we cannot guarantee those requests. If no preference is indicated, the housing office will assign a roommate. Please note: The University cannot guarantee that entire teams or all campers from a single school will be housed in the same building or on the same floor. Also, the University cannot guarantee that every camper will be assigned a roommate.
For the safety and security of our campers and staff members, all Residence Hall doors are locked 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Campers must be in the residence halls by 10:30 p.m. University student auxiliary police monitor the residence halls and surrounding areas overnight.
By car: The Penn State University Park campus is located in the center of the state, at the intersection of Interstate 99/Route 26 and Route 322, fifteen miles south of Interstate 80, and is within driving distance of many major cities, including Harrisburg (1.5 hrs., 90 mi.), Pittsburgh (3 hrs., 137 mi.), Philadelphia (3.5 hrs., 194 mi.), Baltimore (3.5 hrs., 155 mi.), Washington, D.C. (4 hrs., 190 mi.), New York City (5 hrs., 250 mi.), and Toronto (6.5 hrs., 304 mi.).
By air: The State College/University Park Airport is located near the University Park campus. Call 814-865-5511 or visit www.UniversityParkAirport.com for information on flights.
We will provide transportation to and/or from the University Park Airport (SCE) or the State College Bus Terminal. Please fill out our Travel Information Form at least two weeks in advance of the camp start date and fax to 814-865-8883, e-mail to SportCampInfo@athletics.psu.edu, or mail to Penn State Sport Camps Office, 204 Multi-Sport Facility, University Park, PA 16802.
When you arrive at the airport (it's a fairly small building), please proceed to the baggage area, where a camp staff member will greet you.
Most airlines require children who are age 14 and under and traveling alone to fly as an "Unaccompanied Minor," with various additional restrictions and charges. You should check with your airline for details about what fees need to be paid up front, with all the necessary forms filled out in full, prior to the camper's arrival at Penn State. Our staff cannot be held responsible for any additional fees or completion of forms.
See www.psu.edu/ur/visitors.html for detailed visitor information, including maps.
