Who Should Attend

The Nittany Lion Rugby Camps are open to students entering grades eight through twelve next fall. High school graduates are also eligible to enroll.

About the Camps

Rugby Academy, June 24-27

The Nittany Lion Rugby Academy accommodates various age groups and skill levels to include beginners and is designed to help players develop fundamental skills for playing more effectively as individuals and team members. Emphasis is placed on individual and positional skills as well as team skills and concepts. The camp features a high-quality staff of players and coaches from top colleges, National teams and International teams.

Academy Highlights

  • Interaction with a number of current and former USA National Team players and coaches
  • Skills development: Evasive running, passing, tackling and contact skills
  • Specialty clinics: Kicking, lineout throws and scrum-half passing
  • Film study and individual analysis of play
  • Individual player evaluation and feedback
  • Chalk talks/videos
  • Flexibility, strength training and conditioning programs, as well as sports psychology and motivational techniques as appropriate for ages and skill levels
  • Daily competitions with prizes
  • Non-rugby activities: Swimming, soccer, dry-land training demonstrations and more
  • Trainers on duty 24 hours

Fees:

$490 resident fee (includes instruction, housing, meals, camp shirt)

$420 commuter fee (includes instruction, all meals, camp shirt)

$15 registration fee for each camper

Total Fees:

Resident Camper Fee: $490 plus Registration Fee $15 = $505 total fee for residents

Commuter Camper Fee: $420 plus Registration Fee $15 = $435 total fee for commuters

Meals: Dinner on the first day to lunch on the last day

Combined Camp, June 24-July 1

The Combined Rugby Camp provides an opportunity to work on both your 15's and 7's skills, and get the full Penn State Rugby Camp experience by attending both camps (at a reduced rate).

Fees:

$865 resident fee (includes instruction, housing, meals, camp shirt)

$700 commuter fee (includes instruction, all meals, camp shirt)

$15 registration fee for each camper

Total Fees:

Resident Camper Fee: $865 plus Registration Fee $15 = $880 total fee for residents

Commuter Camper Fee: $700 plus Registration Fee $15 = $715 total fee for commuters

Meals: Dinner on the first day to breakfast on the last day

7's Camp
June 28-July 1

The Nittany Lion 7's Camp accommodates various age groups and skill levels to include beginners and is designed to help players develop fundamental skills for playing more effectively as individuals and team members. Emphasis is placed on individual and positional skills as well as team skills and concepts. With Rugby 7's returning to the Olympics in 2016, this fast paced, exciting game offers rugby players the opportunity to achieve the ultimate athletic goal of representing your country in the world's most prestigious sporting event. The camp features a high-quality staff of players and coaches from top colleges, National teams and International teams.

7's Camp Highlights

  • Interaction with a number of current and former USA National Team players and coaches
  • Multiple 7's matches daily, both live and restricted contact
  • Film study and individual analysis of play
  • Individual player evaluation and feedback
  • Chalk talks/videos
  • Advanced positional and unit skill development
  • 7's specific flexibility, strength training and conditioning programs, as well as sports psychology and motivational techniques as appropriate for ages and skill levels
  • Daily competitions with prizes
  • Non-rugby activities: Swimming, soccer, dry-land training demonstrations and more
  • Trainers on duty 24 hours
