UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -
The four-time defending national champion Penn State women's volleyball team
welcomes five additions to the roster for the 2011 campaign.
As the calendar inches
closer to the season-opener, GoPSUsports.com wanted to take the opportunity to
introduce the Nittany Lion fans to the newcomers. We caught up with all five freshmen inside
Rec Hall for video interviews. This
week, GoPSUsports.com will feature one interview per day to get you ready for
the season.
First up is Dominique
Gonzalez. Hailing from San Antonio,
Texas, the 5-6 rookie comes to Penn State after a decorated high school career
at Sandra Day O'Connor High School. The
two-time All-Texas Team selection and AAU All-American was a four-year
letterwinner and team captain in high school.
She also excelled in the classroom as a member of the
National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Math National Honor
Society and the National Society of High School Scholars. Gonzalaz has two older sisters (Jaci and
Nicki), both of which played volleyball in college. Jaci played at Houston, while Nicki played at
UT Brownsville.
Meet Dominique Gonzalez.
